Pavel Aguilar, Nicolas Christol, Lucia Moure

BÄCHLIHOF / L’ÉCURIE, GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND

22.02.2026

Pow[d]er is a pop-up exhibition and performance event unfolding in a traditional Swiss cheese-production chalet in Gstaad. Through works by Pavel Aguilar, Nicolas Christol, and Lucia Moure, it examines how sweetness and violence, seduction and control, have been historically intertwined within colonial systems of extraction and force — from cacao to gunpowder and cocaine.

Curators | Kuratorinnen: Giulia Busetti & Valentina Locatelli

PAVEL AGUILAR

Pavel Aguilar (b. 1989, Tegucigalpa, Honduras) is a transdisciplinary artist living and working between Zurich and Basel. Trained as a classical violinist at the National School of Music in Honduras, BA in Audiovisual Communication from the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana and an MFA from the Institut Kunst Gender Natur in Switzerland.

His work explores the intersection of music and visual arts, focusing on sound, nature, and cultural memory. Shaped by his experiences across Honduras, Mexico, and Colombia, his practice foregrounds the sensory and affective dimensions of colonial histories. As a classical musician and visual anthropologist, he examines ancestral traditions and their relationship with contemporary artistic practices, merging natural and technological elements to create immersive sonic experiences. For Aguilar, sound is both material and narrative—a bridge between histories, times, and geographies—where the organic and the digital converge into new forms of expression.

His work is part of public collections such as Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Kunst(Zeug)Haus in Switzerland, the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín (MAMM), MAMBO in Bogotá, and MADC in Costa Rica. He received the Kunstkredit Basel-Stadt werkbeiträge (2020), was a finalist for the Swiss Performance Art Award (2021) and Contemporary Talents at the François Schneider Foundation (2022), and was nominated for the Swiss Art Award in 2023.

NICOLAS CHRISTOL

Trained in photography, Nicolas Christol (b. in 1982 in Morges, Switzerland, lives and works in Vevey) has developed since the early 2000s an expanded practice that includes installation and performance. His early works explore mechanisms of overconsumption, logics of war, and state violence through immersive environments and a documentary approach.

Since 2017, he has pursued these same themes through contemporary jewellery, using it as a portable medium and a vehicle for images. Influenced in particular by Peter Skubic and Otto Künzli, he creates wearable pieces that intertwine technofascism, state violence, and a critique of consumer society.

In 2006, he co-founded the collective Einzweidrei, within which he co-curated and coordinated around twenty international exhibitions, notably in transitional or temporary venues, as well as for five years in the self-managed space Emergency. In 2021, he co-founded the space Borax, dedicated mainly to contemporary jewellery and ceramics, where he organises around five exhibitions per year bringing together local and international artists.

LUCIA MOURE

Lucía Moure is an artist living and working between Geneva and Bogotá. She studied industrial design at HEAD – Haute École d’Art et de Design, Geneva, and later completed the REAL postgraduate programme at HEAD, specialising in ceramics and polymer-based materials. This period marked a decisive shift in her practice toward sculpture and installation.

Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions at major art institutions in French-speaking Switzerland, including the Centre d’Art Contemporain de Genève, Villa Bernasconi, Fonderie Kugler, the Cabanon at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Maison Visinand in Montreux, and most recently at Le Commun, Geneva. She was also part of the founding team of Fonderie Kugler, contributing to its development as a key artist-run space in Geneva.

Moure has participated in several international residencies, including Sanskriti Kendra Foundation in New Delhi (2012) and Escuela Flora in Bogotá (2017). Her practice engages with material processes, ritual, and cultural knowledge, notably through projects exploring the ceremonial and symbolic dimensions of the coca leaf. In 2023, she took part in the Swiss–Colombian project La casa del Primer Canto, supported by Pro Helvetia and the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
